Care Leaver
You may be entitled to a Council Tax discount if a resident in the property is a care leaver.
To qualify the care leaver must:
- be at least 18 years of age but not yet 26 years of age, and
- have been looked after by a local authority on their 16th birthday or at any subsequent time thereafter, and
- is no longer looked after by a local authority.
This discount can only be awarded from 1 April 2018.
Note: If all the residents in the property are care leavers they may be entitled to an exemption.
How to apply:
The care leaver should contact the Aftercare Team at the local authority where they were cared for and ask them to provide us with confirmation that they are a care leaver.
