Proposal
West Lothian Council's Education Executive at its meeting on 09 June 2026 authorised Education Services to commence statutory consultation on the proposal to alter the non-denominational secondary school catchment areas of: Linlithgow Academy and Winchburgh Academy.
Consultation
In terms of the Schools (Consultation)(Scotland) Act 2010 (the Act), any proposed changes to a school estate in this case, a review of admission arrangements arising from school catchment area variations requires a Statutory Public Consultation.
The Consultation involves all key stakeholders and statutory consultees as detailed in Schedule 2 of the Act, this includes parents/carers/children and staff of - Linlithgow Academy and Winchburgh Academy.

Consultation Period
The consultation period is from Monday 24 August 2026 until Friday 9 October 2026. This timescale adheres to the statutory consultation period for such circumstances which is a minimum of 6 consecutive weeks and include at least 30 school days. A public meeting to discuss the consultation document will be held at:
- Bridgend Primary School | Monday 07 September 2026 | Time: 7-8pm
Decision
A decision will be made by West Lothian Council Education Executive on 12 January 2027.
