Sinclair strikes Gold

Sinclair Academy in Winchburgh have achieved the top accolade for their commitment to placing children's rights at the heart of their school ethos, culture, and curriculum.
The UNICEF report recognised a number of key strengths of the school, including: confident, articulate pupils with excellent understanding of rights; relationships built on respect and trust, especially those with the neighbouring Winchburgh Academy and Holy Family Primary; and the inclusive ethos, where every child feels supported and a strong sense of belonging.
Sinclair Headteacher Anne-Marie Jess said: "We are delighted to have achieved the Gold Rights Respecting School Award from UNICEF.
"This achievement impacts our whole school and community, promoting equality, inclusion, and positive relationships that extend beyond the classroom.
"Thank you to our amazing pupils, staff, and community for all their hard-work and support to make this possible."
UNICEF inspectors visited the school and also noted that: pupils were able to articulate their rights clearly and confidently, showing not just knowledge but deep understanding; the whole-school commitment to making sure rights are embedded; the nurturing and caring 
Executive councillor for education Andrew McGuire added: "Well-done to everyone at Sinclair Academy on this fantastic award.
"For a new school to achieve this award in a short space of time is a very impressive achievement, and demonstrates the excellent working taking place at Sinclair Academy to make sure that children's rights are embedded across all areas of school life."
